TAHLEQUAH, Oklahoma - The Cherokee Nation is now accepting rental
applications from qualified Native American families for apartments in
various communities throughout its jurisdiction. Availability and
apartment size varies by location.
Cherokee Nation Housing Services helps provide housing to low-income
families that meet requirements and are suitable tenants. Each family’s
rent will be based on 30 percent of adjusted income. The maximum
household income limit for the program for one person is $35,850, for a
family of two is $40,950, and for a family of five is $55,300. Other
guidelines may apply, depending upon the size of the household. One
member of each family must be a citizen of a federally recognized tribe
and meet income requirements of the program. Cherokee preference will
apply. The security deposit will be waived, but tenants will be
responsible for paying their own utilities.

Cherokee Nation Housing Services staff is available to distribute and
accept applications at two locations, at 900 Bassham Drive in Hulbert
and at 1500 Hensley Drive in Tahlequah, for apartments located in
Proctor Heights in Hulbert, or by calling 918-722-2177. One, two and
three bedroom apartments are now available.
One bedroom apartments are available in Jay. For an application, please
visit the Housing Services Office located at 109 13th St., in Jay or
call 918-253-8315.
Bushyhead Heights in Westville has available one, two, three and four
bedroom apartments. Applications are available at the Cherokee Nation
Housing Services locations, at 150 Goingsnake in Westville or by calling
918-723-3744.
The Cherokee Nation is helping make affordable housing available for
seniors in Rogers County. Applications are now being accepted for
qualified Native Americans, age 62 or older, for one-bedroom apartments
at Will Rogers Senior Complex in Claremore. Housing Services staff is
available to distribute and accept applications at two Cherokee Nation
Housing Services locations in Claremore, at 202 Stuart Roosea or 2305 S.
Highway 66. Applicants may also request an application be mailed to
them by calling 918-342-2433.
The Cherokee Nation is also accepting applications for qualified Native
American families for three bedroom apartment rentals at Cherokee
Heights in Pryor. Housing Services staff is available to distribute and
accept applications at two locations, 100 Cherokee Heights in Pryor and
322 Willard Stone Drive in Locust Grove. Applicants may also request an
application for those units be mailed to them by calling 918-825-4811
or 918-479-5128.
Applications for all area rental units are also available at the
Cherokee Nation Housing Services Office in Tahlequah at1500 Hensley
