Lake Region Electric CoopSeveral shelters throughout Cherokee Nation have opened. There are several power outages throughout multiple counties in northeastern Oklahoma. Cherokee Nation Emergency Management urges all citizens and employees to use caution if they encounter downed trees and power lines. No one should be on rural roads today without a chainsaw; otherwise, you could find yourself stranded by downed trees. Several rural roads are closed because of trees falling as fast as they can be cleared. Also, please use sound judgment when faced with cold temperatures if you lose power. If you need a shelter call 918-453-5212. The following shelters are now open: *Muskogee: First United Methodist Church, 600 E. Okmulgee |
