TULSA, Oklahoma – As part of a company-wide effort to raise money and supplies for Oklahoma troops stationed oversees, golf professionals at Cherokee Hills Golf Club are donating their time by giving free golf lessons with a $10 donation this Saturday, May 24.

“Last year, we were able to collect hundreds of boxes of supplies for our troops stationed overseas, and I wanted to up the ante, so I challenged each department within our company to a competition to see who could raise the most money or collect the most items for this year’s troop drive. I am very proud of the response so far, and the golf lessons are a great example of how dedicated and willing our employees can be for such a great cause,” said David Stewart, CEO of Cherokee Nation Enterprises (CNE), which operates the golf courses, Cherokee Casinos and multiple other retail businesses.

Cherokee Hills Golf Club professionals will begin ten-minute free golf lessons at 7:00 a.m. The lessons will continue throughout the day. In return, Cherokee Hills is asking for a minimum $10 donation per lesson to go to the troop drive collection fund.

This is the second year for CNE to host a company-wide troop drive, collecting supplies and raising money for troops stationed overseas. The troops are members of Oklahoma’s own 45th Infantry Brigade, a reserve unit from northeastern Oklahoma.

CNE is taking troop drive donations at each Cherokee Casino location until the first week of June, where they will then be packaged at Cherokee Casino Resort and shipped overseas.

Cherokee Hills Golf Club is located at Cherokee Casino Resort, Tulsa, on Interstate 44 East at exit 240A. The course was voted this year by Golfweek magazine as one of the top five public golf courses in Oklahoma.

Those who are interested may sign up in advance or the morning of the event. For more information about the golf lessons and to sign up, call the Cherokee Hills Golf Club pro shop, phone: 918-384-7600.
