TAHLEQUAH, Oklahoma - Sequoyah High School senior Angel Goodrich has
announced her intent to become a Kansas Jayhawk, verbally committing to
play basketball next fall for the University of Kansas.
"I just really liked the coaches," Goodrich said. "Then after I met the
other players, they just made it feel right."
Goodrich has been a standout player for Sequoyah, helping catapult the
team to three consecutive state titles. She says she's eager to begin
her fourth and final season for Sequoyah, hoping to help the team make
Oklahoma history by becoming the first basketball team to win four
straight state titles.
"It would be such an honor to win a fourth straight title with these
girls and make state history. We've played together for so long that it
would be really special to make it a four-peat with this team," she said.
In only three years of play, Goodrich has racked up the honors. She was
named MVP in both the 2006 and 2007 3A state title games, was the 2007
Oklahoma Gatorade Player of the Year, the 2005 and 2006 MVP in
"Oklahoma's Best" girls basketball tournament and has been selected all
three of her high school years for the Oklahoma All-State first team.
