TAHLEQUAH, OKLAHOMA - Cherokee Nation employee Keli Swim was
recently honored as the 2007 Paramedic of the Year by the Tahlequah Area
Chamber of Commerce.
“Each year we honor a firefighter, police officer and medic alternating
between city and county each year,” said David Moore, executive director
for the Tahlequah Area Chamber of Commerce. “Our board then gathers
these nominations and votes on someone to take this award. This is a way
for the community to say thanks for doing a great job with the services
you perform.”
“I am very humbled to receive this award,” Swim said. “Cherokee Nation
has been a great place to work and has made me a better medic.” Swim, of
Tahlequah, has been a paramedic with Cherokee Nation EMS for fourteen
years.
Swim has previously been honored as the paramedic of the year by
Cherokee Nation and the National Native American Emergency Medical
Service Association.
“Keli has been a very dedicated to our service and shows excellent
leadership skills,” said Jimmy Summerlin, interim director of Cherokee
Nation EMS. “You can always count on Keli to go above and beyond, in her
job, with her patients and with her peers.”
Cherokee Nation paramedic Glen Ruark was the recipient of this same
award in 2005.
