CLAREMORE, OKLAHOMA - Cherokee Nation Tribal Council member Cara
Cowan-Watts of Claremore was recently appointed to serve as Chairman
of the Claremore Service Unit and Indian Hospital Board of Directors,
Incorporated.
“I was honored to be appointed by my peers to serve as Chair for the
Advisory Board,” said Cowan-Watts. “Our goal is to raise the health
status of the Indian people within the twelve-county area to the highest
possible level.”
The board was first assembled in 2004 with a mission to secure health
services rendered beneficial to Native Americans within the Claremore
service area. The group provides a comprehensive health services
delivery system for American Indians and Alaska Natives with opportunity
for maximum tribal involvement in developing and managing programs to
meet their needs.
The governing body of the board is made up of tribal representatives
of all federally recognized tribes with headquarters located within the
twelve counties served by the Claremore Service Unit.
“All of our board members have a desire to work for the betterment of
Indian health services,” said Cowan-Watts. “It is an honor to represent
the Cherokee Nation and to serve Native Americans in need of health care
through my participation on this board.”
