TAHLEQUAH, OKLAHOMA – The Sequoyah girls’ basketball team
will host a basketball camp for younger basketball players to teach basic
basketball skills, teambuilding and sportsmanship. The Lady Indians are
three-time defending state champions and the winners of the 2006
Oklahoma’s Best Tournament. They ended the season ranked #19 by Sports
Illustrated and are currently on a 39 game winning streak.
“While we are proud of our players’ accomplishments on the court, we are equally proud of them as role models and ambassadors of Sequoyah Schools,” said Sequoyah girls’ basketball coach Bill Nobles. “Here at our camp they get to teach and interact with our future players. They embody everything that we are striving for here at Sequoyah in regards to Chief Smith’s desire to make our school an academy of leadership.” The basketball camp will be held May 29 – June 1 for girls in second through ninth grades. Girls in second through fifth grades will meet from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. and girls in sixth through ninth will meet from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. Registration fee is $35 and includes t-shirt, souvenir game ball, camp awards and lunch.
