TAHLEQUAH, OKLAHOMA – Shawn Budder, the senior starting pitcher
at Sequoyah Schools, recently signed a letter of intent to play baseball
at Connors State College in Warner.
“I saw him play last summer,” said Keith Perry, Connors State College
baseball coach. “He’s got a real good arm.”
“He throws every big game for us,” said Jeff Turtle, Sequoyah’s baseball
coach. “He has 67 strike outs. He works hard and has a good breaking
pitch. He’s done well for us so far.”
Along with the opportunity to play baseball for CSC, Budder will also
receive a scholarship for tuition, fees and books.
“It’s a good fit,” said Larry Grigg, Sequoyah’s athletic director. “They
(CSC) will be able to give him a lot of playing time. Coach Keith has a
lot of players that are now playing in the professional ranks. It’s a
great place for him to get started.”
Budder, a Cherokee citizen from Kenwood, is the son of Ricky and Sallie
Budder. He plans to major in pre-education.
