PARK HILL, OKLAHOMA – This summer the Cherokee Heritage Center will present "Under the Cherokee Moon", an exciting historical drama the whole family can enjoy. The drama opens on June 1st!

Performances will run on Friday and Saturday evenings from June 1 to August 18. Theatergoers will have the option of being served a delicious dinner before show time, or may elect to only see the show. Seating in the picturesque Adams Corner Rural Village begins at 6 p.m. Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. "Under the Cherokee Moon" begins at approximately 7 p.m.

The front porch of the Adams Corner General Store becomes the stage for the first part of the production, “Amazing Graces,” which brings 1800s Indian Territory to life. This section of the show will revisit the days when the Cherokee Female Seminary stood on the grounds of the Cherokee Heritage Center. Award-winning actor and storyteller Laurette Willis will portray Trail of Tears survivor, seminary graduate and teacher Carrie Bushyhead, as well as missionary/teacher Sarah Worcester in the interactive production.

Next, participants will travel back another hundred years to 1776 in the Ancient Village for “Around Cherokee Council Fires". There guests can decide with the Cherokee leaders of the day whether or not to become involved in the war being fought between their trade partners, the British, and the colonists who continue to encroach on Cherokee lands.

Producers say those familiar with Cherokee history will appreciate the attention to detail, and theater enthusiasts should enjoy the drama and acting talents of some of the area’s most gifted performers.

The Cherokee Heritage Center is located three miles south of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, just off Highway 62. Turn East on Willis Road. Follow Willis Road which becomes S. Keeler Drive, leading you directly to the Cherokee Heritage Center.

Regular admission rates for Dinner and Theater performances are only $25 for adults and $15 for children, or $15 and $10 for Theater only. CNHS member rates are $20 and $12. Other discounted rates are available for groups and senior citizens. Call 888-999-6007 for reservations. Seating is limited.
