CLAREMORE, OK — In a continuous effort to provide for better communities
and a better Oklahoma, the Cherokee Nation recently contributed $5,000
to Safenet Services, Inc.
“The Cherokee Nation is community-focused and community-driven,” said
Chad Smith, Cherokee Nation Principal Chief. “The strength of the
Cherokee Nation lies in our communities and it is important that we help
support other organizations with the same vision and dedication to
citizens of the Cherokee Nation and of Oklahoma. We are proud to offer
support to organizations like Safenet Services Inc., who work to educate
and advocate women who have been victims of abuse and assault.”
Statistics show that an average of three million women are abused every
year, and every three minutes someone in the United States is sexually
assaulted. Safenet is a non-profit organization that provides direction
and services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. In
addition, the organization maintains a domestic abuse shelter,
protective order filing and support, supervised visitation/exchange
services, a 52-week batterers program and parenting classes.
“Safenet Services is grateful for the assistance from Cherokee Nation
for services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault,” said
Donna Grabow, Executive Director of Safenet Services Inc. “This helps
provide advocacy and resources for victims.”
