You must be willing to leave today’s modern conveniences behind and travel back to a time untouched by European influence. Taste traditional Cherokee foods, witness and participate in educational social dancing, listen to traditional stories handed down through generations of elders, experience ancient Cherokee life and learn first hand how our ancestors started the path for the future of today’s Cherokee people. This adventure package is $95 per person and includes a welcome reception, orientation, Ancient Village tour, blowgun shooting, stickball game, traditional meal, storytelling, social dancing, modern day breakfast, Adams Corner 19th Century Village, museum access, and closing ceremony. The package also includes your choice of basket weaving or pottery as a “make and take” learning experience. The Cherokee Heritage Center strives to educate visitors on all aspects of Cherokee history and culture, and has permanent exhibitions that examine historical information regarding the heritage of the Cherokees. Space is limited for this adventure package. Reservations and payment are required 30 days in advance. Youth groups receive one complimentary adult with every 10 students. Partipants need to bring their own tent and a sleeping bag. For reservations contact Barbara Girty, Tour and Travel Coordinator, phone: 888-999-6007 (ext.245). For more information on other Cherokee Heritage Center events, call toll free, 888-999-6007, and visit the Cherokee Heritage Center web site. |
