TAHLEQUAH, OKLAHOMA - The Cherokee Nation is accepting
enrollment applications for children from 6 weeks to 3 years for
the Children’s Village Early Head Start program located south of
Tahlequah near Sequoyah Schools.
Early Head Start is a comprehensive development program. It implements American Indian heritage, Cherokee culture and language, and provides services in the areas of education, physical fitness, medical and dental, health, nutrition and social development, with a special emphasis for children with special needs. Parents or guardians should submit a completed application along with a copy of the child’s Certificate of Degree of Indian Blood (CDIB) card, social security card (optional), immunization record and state certified birth certificate. Additionally required is verification of current household income, which can be demonstrated by paycheck stubs that are no more than 30 days old, tax records, a W-2 statement from an employer or a TANF statement. If you have an application on file and your address or phone number has changed, please contact the office to update your application. The Cherokee Nation Early Childhood Unit does not discriminate based on race, color, national origin, sex or special needs. Children with special needs are encouraged to apply and are given priority when vacancies occur. Applications are available to be picked up at the ECU office in Tahlequah from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday; and/or call: 918-458-4393 / toll free 888-458-4393, or send an e-mail to headstart@cherokee.org to request that an application be mailed to you. |
