SALINA, OKLAHOMA – The Cherokee Nation will be educating community members on making healthy heart choices in February through the sponsorship of the annual Healthy Heart Day on Friday, February 9, from 9 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. The free event, sponsored by Cherokee Nation AMO Salina Health Center, will provide free health screenings, healthy snacks, blood pressure tests, blood sugar screening and basic overall health information. “We offer this in February in conjunction with the fact that February is American Heart Month,” said Cherokee Nation public health nurse Susan Johnson, LPN. “We focus on our diabetic hypertension patients during this event as well.” For further information on Healthy Heart Day, contact public health nursing, phone: 918-434-8513.
