TAHLEQUAH, OK - The Cherokee Nation tribal complex is open
for business today, in order to assure citizens are provided services in
their time of need. Likewise, many of the Cherokee Nation health care
centers and clinics are open, but some have been forced to close due to
power outages.
Cherokee Nation health care centers and clinics in Jay, Salina and Muskogee are all closed due to the power outages plaguing many areas of northeastern Oklahoma. The Nowata, Vinita, Bartlesville, Stilwell and Sallisaw clinics and health care centers are all open today. The Cherokee Nation Emergency Management programs have been working diligently during the weekend helping provide shelters and other necessities to citizens and other residents. Tribal officials have been working with county and local emergency management officials in all counties throughout the Cherokee Nation. Thus far, the tribe has provided emergency generators to officials in the community of Oaks and has delivered emergency water supplies to citizens in the communities of Peggs, Kenwood and to the Cherokee County shelter. At this time, no decision has been made regarding the postponement of the monthly meeting of the Cherokee Nation Tribal Council. |
