TAHLEQUAH, OK - A group of Cherokee Nation employees,
from Cherokee Nation Health Services Group, banded together in an
effort to help the community recently which resulted in more than
$300 being donated to the local CARE Pantry.
Employees from the tribe’s Health Services Group acquired an autographed
football from University of Oklahoma head football coach Bob Stoops.
Employees could then donate $1.00 for the opportunity to win the
football during the recent all-employee luncheon sponsored by the group.
A total of $329 was raised during the event. The employees involved in
the event then voted to provide the funds raised to the CARE Pantry.
The local CARE Pantry provides emergency food to more than 700 people
each month. The pantry is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from
10 a.m. until 1 p.m. and is located in the Professional Building at the
corner of Muskogee Ave. and Downing St. Those needing emergency
assistance must supply a social security card and a photo ID.
