PARK HILL, Oklahoma – The Cherokee Heritage Center is currently seeking entries for the 12th Annual Cherokee Homecoming Art Show and Sale. The show will open on August 25th and remain on display through October 7th.

Participation in this show is limited to artists who have citizenship in a federally recognized Cherokee tribe (Cherokee Nation, United Keetoowah Band, or Eastern Band). A copy of the artist’s tribal citizenship card must accompany entry. Divisions and categories for the show include:

Traditional Division
1. Traditional Basketry,
2. Jewelry and Beading,
3. Traditional Pottery,
4. Traditional Arts

Contemporary Division
1. Visual Arts (Painting and Graphics),
2. Contemporary Sculpture,
3. Contemporary Pottery,
4. Contemporary Basketry and
5. Textiles.

Prize money will be given in each category. The show offers a total of $5,000 in prize money.

In order to be accepted in the art show all artwork must be delivered to the Cherokee Heritage Center no later than 4pm on August 10th.

The 12th Annual Cherokee Homecoming Art Show and Sale is a time-honored tradition, which brings skilled artisans in varied media together in order to preserve the Cherokee craftsmanship passed down from generation to generation. The Cherokee Heritage Center strives to educate visitors on all aspects of Cherokee history and culture and has permanent exhibitions that examine information regarding histocial and social events surrounding Cherokees.

The Cherokee Heritage Center, located three miles south of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
