TAHLEQUAH, OKLAHOMA – The Cherokee Nation is holding a public meeting to get input from Cherokee citizens on hunting, fishing and related environmental issues at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, August 30 at the Sallisaw Housing Authority Building, 3807 W. Cherokee Ave. in Sallisaw.

The meeting will be hosted by Cherokee Nation Environmental Programs and is sponsored by Cherokee Nation District 3 Representatives Phyllis Yargee and David Thornton, Sr.

Currently, the tribe is working on a Hunting and Fishing Code for tribal citizens. Tribal officials want to learn about concerns or opinions citizens may have about gathering plants, local streams, and environmental issues. The meeting will be an informal conversation for the purpose of seeking input from citizens.

There is no cost to attend and refreshments will be provided. For more information, contact Clint Carroll, phone: 918-453-5370.
