BARTLESVILLE, OKLAHOMA – Cherokee Nation Health Services has named Elton Sunday as the new assistant director of the tribe’s Bartlesville and Vinita clinics.Sunday, who comes to the clinics with 13 years experience in the healthcare arena, will serve as an Assistant Director of Health Services and will be responsible for the clinics located in both Bartlesville and Vinita.
“I hope to get the word out that we are here to serve all tribal members get quality healthcare and service through either of these two clinics,” said Sunday.
Both the Bartlesville and Vinita Health Clinics are branches of the Cherokee Nation Nowata Primary Clinic. They each house a nurse practitioner and a behavioral health therapist, as well as a limited lab. Patients can also receive some of their prescriptions from these two locations.
The clinics are open to members and citizens of all tribes. In order to be seen, patients must have an official Certified Degree of Indian Blood (CDIB) card. Clinic officials say that the operation of the clinics is important to more patients being seen in those areas, and to ensure that all Native Americans receive proper healthcare.
“Patients need to make appointments to be seen, but appointments can be scheduled for the same day,” Sunday said.
The clinic is located at 501 East 5th, Suite B in Bartlesville. Hours of operation will be Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Appointments can be made by calling 918-336-0823.
