TAHLEQUAH, OKLAHOMA – The public is invited to attend the annual Christmas Concert of the Cherokee National Youth Choir Saturday, December 3, at 7 p.m. at Crescent Valley Baptist Church, located on Highway 62 south of Tahlequah. Each year, the choir performs traditional Christmas music during the concert, providing the public to hear the beautiful sounds of the season in the Cherokee language.

Comprised of 40 students within the Cherokee Nation, the group has gained popularity in recent years, and has toured throughout Oklahoma and the United States. In recent years, the group has performed at Mount Rushmore, and the National Congress of the American Indian convention. Last year the group performed throughout the Washington D.C. area, including a special performance at the White House where they were introduced by President Bush. Recently, the group was invited to South Dakota for a special performance to Native American youth to show their example and leadership abilities as well as their musical talent. The group has also recently produced a new CD which is currently being played on area radio stations and sold throughout the Cherokee Nation.
