TAHLEQUAH, OK - The Cherokee Nation is hosting a fitness day camp for Cherokee fourth-graders in Sallisaw this summer. The camp provides youth with the opportunity to learn and practice behaviors that promote a healthy lifestyle.“This will be our 14th year sponsoring summer camps, and we are looking forward to another season,” said Lu McCraw, health educator for the Cherokee Nation. “We offer a variety of activities to keep all of our campers busy and active, from Cherokee language classes to physical fitness and cultural activities.”
Youth will also have the opportunity to attend nutrition and physical fitness workshops, play games, go swimming, and listen to motivational speakers.
The camp begins June 7 and lasts through June 11. The schedule for the day camp is 9 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. There is no fee for the camp and lunch and snacks will be provided daily. All campers must be entering the fourth-grade.
