STILWELL, OKLAHOMA - The Cherokee Nation Early Head Start Center at Cherry Tree is accepting applications for enrollment for the 2003-04 school year.Early Head Start (EHS) is comprehensive development program serving children ages 0-3. Cherokee Nation EHS implements American Indian heritage, culture and language, and provides services in the areas of education, physical fitness, medical and dental health, nutrition and social development with a special emphasis for children with special needs.
"Cherry Tree Early Head Start offers transportation for those children who are enrolled, and also offers after class care until 6 p.m. for those parents who work or attend school", said Norma Harvey, public education coordinator for the Cherokee Nation Head Start program.
To request an application, call (918) 696-2669 or (888) 458-4393. Applications may be picked up at the Cherry Tree Early Head Start Center or the Cherokee Nation Head Start office in Tahlequah from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. To have an application mailed, call (888) 458-4393. Parents who already have an application on file, but have changed addresses or phone numbers should contact the office to update the application.
Copies of the following documents must be submitted with the application before it will be considered complete: a Certificate Degree of Indian Blood (CDIB) card; a social security card (optional); an immunization record; a state certified birth certificate; and verification of income, which can be check stubs, tax records, W-2 statement from employer, or a TANF statement.
