TAHLEQUAH, OKLAHOMA - 158 students from Sequoyah High School made the Superintendent's and Principal's Honor Rolls for the fall semester of the 2002-2003 school year."We are extremely proud of these students individually and collectively," said Tony Pivec, Sequoyah High School superintendent. "Each has shown a personal excellence in academics, while as a group they represent a terrific student body. I say that knowing 10% of our students earned perfect marks, while another 43% achieved an average grade of 'B' or better in each of their classes, it's hard to find an entire student body performing this well. It says a lot about our staff and students."

"Home of the Indians!"
Sequoyah High School, an Indian boarding school, originated in 1871, when the Cherokee National Council passed an act setting up an orphan asylum to take care of many orphans that came out of the Civil War. Sequoyah High School's approximate 300 enrollment represents 42 tribes and 14 different states. Students are eligible to attend if they are members of federally recognized Indian tribes or one-fourth blood descendants of such members. |
