Firedancers Head to Shuttle Disaster Scene

TAHLEQUAH, OKLAHOMA - The Cherokee Nation Firedancers will join search efforts in Nacogdoches County, Texas early tomorrow morning.

17 members of the Cherokee Nation’s elite firefighting unit have been called to participate in search efforts for parts of the space shuttle Columbia, which broke apart above Texas Saturday morning.

The crew will report to the Cherokee Nation at 3:00 a.m. on February 5 and depart for Texas by bus at 6:00 a.m.

The Firedancers do not yet know the details or duration of their assignment in Texas.
