TAHLEQUAH, OK - The Cherokee Nation and Oklahoma Workforce Development are teaming up to offer “One Stop” service to Cherokees who need assistance with employment and vocational training.

The partnership allows both agencies to share resources and information to assist clients. Career councilors at these offices can help with admissions to training programs. Clients can come to one office and receive help with job searches, job placement, literacy, adult education, income tax assistance, and youth employment.

“By bringing the services directly into more communities we are more assessable to people who need training and jobs,” said Diane Kelley, executive director of Cherokee Nation career services.

Several branches of "One Stop" offices throughout Cherokee Nation have been opened. Offices in Jay, Pryor, Stilwell, and Sallisaw are in operation, with more scheduled to open during the year.

Cynthia Collins, employment and training specialist at the Cherokee Nation’s Sallisaw office reported, “The partnership between Cherokee Nation and Work Force Oklahoma has been very beneficial to clients who live in rural areas, they can get information and help close to home, right in their own community.”
