Tahlequah, OK - The Cherokee Heritage Center is having it's Second Annual "Turtle Island Storytelling Festival" Thursday and Friday, May 9th and 10th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The festival will feature regional and nationally recognized storytellers including Sequoyah Guess, Sammy Still, Tonya Still (former Miss Cherokee and Miss Indian Oklahoma), Choogie Kingfisher and S.D. Youngwolf.

Everyone is invited to attend. Children and adults will enjoy hearing stories representing Cherokee folklore and mythology. A legend is a story handed down for generations among people and popularly believed to have a traditional basis. Knowledge of these stories keeps these legends alive for further generations. Come be a part of that circle of life and truth.

This program is funded by the Oklahoma Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts. Admission to the event is $8.50 for adults and $3.50 for children under the age of 14. One adult chaperone per ten students will be admitted free. This also includes admission to the Museum, the Ancient Village, Adam's Corner and the Trail of Tears Art Exhibit.
