Tahlequah, OK - Explore exciting opportunities to help make a difference in the Tahlequah community by attending a volunteer tea at the Cherokee Heritage Center Tuesday, Feb. 12 at 2 p.m.
The tea is sponsored by the Cherokee National Historical Society Inc., a non-profit organization that operates the Cherokee Heritage Center. Volunteer opportunities abound and include events such as Indian Territory Days, special receptions for dignitaries and art show openings, The Trail of Tears Drama, receiving visitors, and more.
Current volunteers and those who are interested in volunteering are invited to the Cherokee Heritage Center to learn more, according to Volunteer Coordinator Anne Woodward. "Our volunteers are vital to the success of our programs," said Ann Woodward. Woodward is an AmeriCorp volunteer, serving in Volunteers In Service to America. VISTAs have one-year terms, usually in socio-economic/geographical areas in which they are interested. One of Woodward's responsibilities at the Cherokee Heritage Center is to revitalize and increase the volunteer program.
To RSVP or for more information, call Anne Woodward or Kate Kelly at the Cherokee Heritage Center, phone: 918-456-6007.
